CHLORIDE WELCOMES E CLAMPUS VITUS
CHAPTER 5917+4 TO CHLORIDE
September 30 - October 2, 2011

The Ancient & Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus (ECV) will construct a monument on the Chloride Historical Society’s property in Cyanide Springs. Construction will begin the morning of Saturday, October 1st. This honor is in recognition of the railroad system that connected Chloride and other communities with the Kingman area from the late 1800’s up until 1931.

The Chloride monument will be built through a collaboration of the Lost Dutchman Chapter 5917+4 of Arizona and New Mexico and the Queho Posse Chapter 1919 of Southern Nevada. According to Barry Christensen, past president of the Lost Dutchman chapter, “we expect upwards of 200 “Clampers” to help construction and dedicate the monument.”

Construction of the 6 foot tall granite monument begins Saturday, October 1st. The ECV members bring all the materials, dig the hole, and follow through with the pouring of cement and complete construction of the monument. Dedication ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, October 2nd and everyone is welcome to attend.

Mark Hall-Patton, administrator of the Clark County Museum System in Las Vegas, Nevada, and a “Clamper” himself, will present the monument to the people of Chloride during the Sunday dedication ceremonies. Hall-Patton is often seen on the History channel’s television show Pawn Stars. His historical knowledge is called on often to evaluate authenticity of a variety of items that are for sale in the pawn shop.
